Jumps and gullies
On a track full of obstacles, the winner is the cyclist who, through their radical manoeuvres, crosses the finish line first.
Smaller than a mountain bike, BMX bikes have 20-inch wheels and just one gear and one brake. They have a sturdy frame to withstand the many jumps along the circuit.
Push and pump
To gain speed, cyclists use their body’s momentum to leap over obstacles, landing softly as they descend.
